The Theme: Midsummer Magic
For this shoot, we wanted to capture the enchantment of a midsummer celebration—light evenings, wildflowers in abundance, and that playful, whimsical spirit that lingers in the air. Our inspiration? A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with its fairylike romance and mischievous charm.
We envisioned a setting where Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius, and Helena could run around Titania’s fairy kingdom, experiencing the full effects of love and magic! This gave us the perfect starting point for a vibrant, cottagecore wedding vision, full of movement, colour, and lighthearted joy.
The Dream Team
We were lucky enough to work with an amazing group of suppliers on this project! Collaborating with people we love is always such a joy, and this shoot was no exception. Before we dive into the details of this midsummer masterpiece, we wanted to give a proper shout-out to the incredible team behind it:
- Venue: Hoad Farm Barn
- Photography: Furnace Mere Studios
- Content Creation: Reel Romances
- Floristry & Styling: Blooming Roza
- Pottery: Mudfired
- Local Flower Farm: Gingerly Green Flower Farm
There’s a full bio for each of these talented creatives at the end of the article, but we couldn’t resist introducing them first—they truly brought this vision to life.

The Venue: Hoad Farm Barn
There was no better setting for this shoot than the rustic, stunning Hoad Farm Barn. The venue strikes a perfect balance—modern facilities within an authentic farm environment. The team here is a dream to work with, and every shoot or wedding we’ve styled at Hoad Farm Barn has been an absolute joy.
The barn offers incredible flexibility. While our original plan was an outdoor ceremony by the duck pond, a typical British June shower meant we moved indoors. Even with this change, the barn itself provided a characterful, charming space that didn’t require much extra styling. Couples can feel confident knowing that whether indoors or out, Hoad Farm Barn delivers a stunning backdrop.
The venue is perfectly equipped for a range of wedding styles. On-site cottages, renovated to a high standard, are ideal for the couple, their parents, or the bridal party to get ready. With beautiful outdoor scenery, multiple ceremony locations, and close proximity to Folkestone for guest accommodation, it’s both practical and picturesque.
Venue packages start from £3,750, offering excellent value for a venue of this quality, flexibility, and charm.

The Bridal Party Look: Raiding the Wardrobe

Image: Furnace Mere Studios
Let’s be real, wedding outfits can get seriously pricey. And if splurging on a dream dress feels right, amazing! But for our fictional couple, sustainable fashion and finding a bargain were more their vibe.
Enter: Vinted. A bit of online treasure hunting turned up a gorgeous unworn sample gown for just £25. With its delicate lace and corset bodice, it nailed the midsummer fairytale vibe – without draining the budget!
The bridesmaids joined in too, raiding their own wardrobes instead of buying new. With a flexible colour palette, everyone could wear something they truly loved, and their personalities shone through.
Hair, make-up, and accessories were all DIY. Professional styling can absolutely be worth it, but it really depends on where you want your money to go. For this couple, it made more sense to skip that expense so they could invest in what mattered most: the venue, the flowers, and capturing priceless memories with their media team.

Seasonal Floral Design
Our floral palette embraced the rainbow vibrance of May and June blooms—fresh, bright, and full of energy. Most of our flowers were sourced from Clare at Gingerly Green Flower Farm, letting the season guide us.
We did need a few extras from our flower market supplier, so full transparency: not every bloom was UK grown. Some amaranthus, spray roses, and eucalyptus came from Tom Brown Wholesale, while a handful of carnations were picked from Maisie’s own garden. Still, most stems came from Clare’s local fields just down the road from the venue, meaning the majority of our blooms weren’t flown in. Working directly with growers supports the regional economy and keeps travel miles low.
We know the events industry isn’t always the most sustainable. At Blooming Ròża, we prioritise our clients’ vision while reducing less eco-friendly practices wherever we can. This shoot gave us the chance to put sustainability at the centre of our floral design: no single-use plastics, and reusable mechanics like chicken wire and floristry frogs in place of floral foam—a far greener choice.
Our colourful, slightly wilder style gave us the flexibility to work with what the farms had ready. Designing this way meant we could maintain the aesthetic we wanted while staying seasonal, local, and low-waste.
Key floral varieties included:
- Campanula (Canterbury Bells)
- Allium
- Alchemilla mollis (Lady’s Mantle)
- Foxgloves
- Ox-eye Daisy
- Nigella
- Sweet Peas
- Sweet William
- Statice
- Peony
- Bearded Iris
- Orlaya (Lace Flower)
- Sanguisorba
- Verbascum
- Agastache
- Spray Roses
- Spray Carnations
- Amaranthus
By combining seasonal sourcing, local farms, and thoughtful mechanics, the arrangements were vibrant, flexible, and as sustainable as possible.
Bouquets: Whimsical and Wild
For our shoot, the bouquets were whimsical and natural, ditching tight, round arrangements in favour of loose, flowing designs that let each bloom shine.
Peonies from the flower farm became focal points, anchoring the designs. The bride’s bouquet was the largest, bridesmaids carried smaller versions, and the junior bridesmaid had a petite bouquet without a peony.
Costing:
- Bridal bouquet: £100
- Bridesmaid bouquets with peonies: £55 each
- Junior bridesmaid bouquet: £40
Total bouquet budget: £305.
To maximise value, we reused the bouquets as wedding breakfast centrepieces: the three larger bridesmaid bouquets went into medium vases (provided free when styling your venue), the junior bouquet went on the bar, and the bride’s bouquet took centre stage on the sweetheart table in a special vase.

A Story to Tell: A Bride’s Bouquet in a Keepsake Vase
One of our favourite touches was placing the bride’s larger bouquet in a story vase from Lauren at Mudfired, a Sussex-based potter we adore.
Lauren’s bespoke story vases are designed to represent a couple’s story. Not only does it make a stunning statement on the wedding day, but it also becomes a keepsake to treasure for years—imagine filling it with flowers from anniversaries, Valentine’s Days, or special date nights.
Here’s a tip: these vases make incredible wedding gifts. If someone asks what you “really want,” this is perfect. You could even ask a few loved ones to help fund the piece, making it part of your wedding and a gift that keeps giving long after the day.

Reusing Bouquets: The Girl’s Need A Drink!
If you’re reusing bouquets as table centrepieces, be sure to get them back into water as soon as possible after post-ceremony pictures. Most flowers perk up beautifully with a fresh snip and a drink, but some don’t like being out of water for long—especially on a hot day.
When styling a venue, we usually give bouquets a quick refresh before arranging them in vases, so they look as great on your tablest. We’ll also help you choose blooms wisely to give them the best chance of lasting the day.

The Flower Crown: A Touch of Fairy Queen Magic
No midsummer bride is complete without a flower crown! For this look, we created a delicate halo with spray roses, spray carnations, statice, and wax flower. The result? A playful, romantic, cottagecore fairy-queen vibe.
Bridal flower crown cost: £40

Images: Furnace Mere Studios
Buttonhole to Headpiece: A Happy Twist
We had a buttonhole ready for the groom, but illness meant he couldn’t join—so the maid of honour model (yep, me!) stepped in. With a few pins, the buttonhole became a dainty hairpiece.
I loved how this showcased that you don’t have to pin a buttonhole to a lapel on a suit or dress. A subtle floral headpiece works beautifully anywhere—especially if a flower crown or traditional outfit isn’t your style. A stunning evening dress with a floral hair detail can be just as bridal.
There’s no need to stick to tradition—find the style that makes you feel like yourself on your wedding day!

The Ceremony: Indoor Charm Meets Midsummer Magic
We’d originally planned an outdoor ceremony by the duck pond at Hoad Farm Barn. Beautiful spot, super tranquil. But June showers had other plans. Plan B? The indoor barn—and honestly, it was just as stunning.
This is one of the things we love about the barn: whether it’s outdoors or indoors, the setting is rustic, characterful, and incredibly flexible.
Each element used within this styling approach was built to enhance an already beautiful venue; you’ll find each element is simple and has a focused on being reusable, they are movable so throughout the day our fictional couple can get the most out of their wedding budget.

Floor Meadows: Rustic Troughs with Seasonal Blooms
Lauren from Mudfired created custom terracotta troughs for us. Handmade, terracotta tones, looped handles, the works. They’re the same size as a floral foam block but designed to be used with chicken wire and frogs instead—no foam needed, not a single use vessel, more sustainable, and perfect for our rustic vibe.
We filled them with seasonal blooms to create floor meadows decorating the top of the aisle. After the ceremony, they could easily move to the entrance of the wedding breakfast room, giving extra value to the couple.
Costing:
- Bespoke troughs to buy: £40 each
- Trough hire from Blooming Roza: £20 each
- Floor meadow flowers: £160 each

Vase Arrangements & Handmade Clay Beauty
Throughout the space, we used Lauren’s stunning hand-thrown vases. Each one unique, with organic shapes and details like chain links and rustic finishes—perfectly echoing the earthy, cottagecore theme.
One favourite: her donut vase, symbolising a wedding ring, placed on the signing table with airy nigella. Either side we placed Lauren’s handmade bud vases with Orlaya and Statice. Paired with Lauren’s rustic ring holder, the ensemble created a whimsical, fairytale aesthetic.
The vases in this shoot cost:
Terracotta wide rim £70
Big white stoneware £120
Small white chain around the centre: £30
Donut Vase £25
Bud vases £15 each

Lanterns & Mini Jars: Warm Glow & Sweet Touches
Silver lanterns lined the top of the aisle, giving a soft, romantic glow. Mini jars with seasonal flowers added extra charm along the aisle, which could later be scattered around the venue.
Costs:
- Lantern hire: £35 per set (candles included)
- Mini jar arrangements: from £20 each
Love is in the air!
Bringing the theme of love to full centre, we used Hoad Farm Barn’s rustic love letters at the top of the aisle. Considering love, and all its ups and downs. is central to Shakespeare’s tale, this seemed the perfect move to tie into our midsummer nights dream fantasy.
Love letter hire from Hoad Farm Barn: £40
Confetti: A Flutter of Colour
For confetti, we used our 100% natural, biodegradable mixed petals, which we make in-house. They float beautifully in the air, making for incredible photos. Although you can use packets for our confetti, we love the use of baskets with loose confetti. It looks lovely as bridemaid’s take it down the confetti line for guests to grab a handful. This also means less waste after the throw is done as there are no packets for the bin (or as often is the case the floor!).
For couples who go with our styling packages we provide our confetti baskets (pictured) free of charge.
Confetti Cost: £1 per handful

Wedding Breakfast: The Top Bar Floral Installation
Nothing says whimsical fairytale quite like a floral installation, and for our wedding breakfast, we went all out on the sweetheart table. Rather than a traditional table arrangement, we created a floral over-bar design to bring that woodland, forest-foraged vibe.
We mixed dried elements with fresh blooms—think dried eucalyptus, tree branches, and fresh gypsophila sprayed in different colours to reflect our vibrant palette. Fresh foliage added softness, and draped amaranthus created a stunning waterfall effect. To top it off, we hung cute little chrysanthemums from the bar. The result? A magical, woodland feel that made the sweetheart table the star of the room.
And here’s a fun bonus: after the wedding breakfast, this installation makes a perfect photo backdrop for evening selfies and group shots.
Cost of Floral over-bar installation: around £300

Table Décor: Cottage Garden Charm
To carry the floral magic through the wedding breakfast room, we reused the bridesmaids’ bouquets as centrepieces. Placed on rustic logs supplied by Hoad Farm Barn, they immediately brought a natural, woodland touch to each table.
We added potted plants, Osteospermum and Campanula, in Lauren’s handmade pots to heighten the cottage garden feel. These weren’t just décor, they’re a gift your bridal party or parents could take home, or you could even plant the plants in your own garden after the wedding. Year after year the plant pots can be reused, they’re versatile, stylish, and meaningful.
To echo the terracotta tones of the pots, table runners and napkins were an orange hue. Napkins were tied with ribbons in our varied colour palette, keeping that burst-of-spring, organic feel. Woven placemats at each place setting tied the rustic-cottage look together beautifully.
We also added little details for each guest place setting.
Favours: Cute “Sow in Love” seed packets, designed alongside Lauren’s miniature veggie patch labels—adorable, whimsical, and totally in theme.
Sweetheart table: The couple’s place settings got a little extra magic with ceramic napkin rings and personalised “Bride and Groom” tags. Of course, these could be adapted for any couple combination, and the ceramic rings could easily be used for the whole wedding breakfast too.
